Is paying for Proton services worth it?

For those who don't know, Proton is a company that is basically Google, but more privacy friendly. It offers services such as Mail, Drive, VPN, a password manager, and more.
But is it worth paying for the paid plans?
Here's the short version: Yes*.
Here's the long version: Yes, but only if privacy actually matters to you. (which in this day and age, it really should)
Here are the pros:

  1. Great UI and stability
  2. Privacy with stuff like email aliases, E2EE encrypted email, and (kinda the whole point)
  3. Big enough to have a active community which can help you troubleshoot
  4. A FREE 20$ in credits, which can carry you a long way with some of their cheaper services (like Proton VPN) (if you sign up for a paid plan)
  5. Actual audits proving it's private
  6. It's open source!
    Aaaand now for the cons.
1, Kinda slow Drive speeds (though since I use Drive for backups, it doesn't really matter to me)
  7. Some services don't work with the email aliases.
  8. Proton Drive client for Linux isn't out just yet, but Proton says it'll come out at around the end of this year
Aside from that, I can't think of any more cons!
Overall, it's a great group of services, and I'll give it a 9/10.
